Qing Cheng Lake Resort is planned in a large residential golf community on the outskirts of Dujiangyan, Chengdu. Dujiangyan is renowned for its irrigation system, constructed over 2,200 years ago and still a major landmark in the development of water management and technology. To this day, the system still discharges its functions perfectly, controlling the waters of the Minjiang River and distributing it to the fertile farmland of the Chengdu plains.
Our design draws inspiration from the immense advances in science and technology achieved by the Chinese as demonstrated in mega water engineering projects. The firm created a series of floating islands in a man-made lake that symbolises the developers’ commitment to creating a water based resort community.
Nearby Mount Qingcheng is celebrated by many temples in the mountain as the birthplace of Taoism. Drawn from Taoist principles, the islands of the resort are botanically shaped to reflect man’s dynamic balance and relationship with nature.
