Recognised by MIPIM in 2015 for its innovative master plan, Bhartiya Urban has quickly become one of the leading developers in India. Their township development in north Bangalore is breaking new grounds on many levels: their vision for urban living based on connectivity, community and sustainability; new modes of project delivery utilizing BIM and pre-fab; and rethinking the value proposition at the mid-market residential segment.
Within this context, WOW’s relationship with Bhartiya Urban has become a unique partnership that goes beyond the traditional consultant-client relationship. WOW has been involved in no less than seven different asset classes, spanning the residential, hotel, retail and cultural market sectors through roles and scope ranging from master planning, architecture, feasibility studies and marketing. Beyond these roles, WOW has been engaged as a key advisor on all aspects of the project design, development and delivery.
The larger vision for Bhartiya City is to create a holistic self-sustaining community combining residential, commercial, retail and open spaces with key services like school and hospitals. As a key part of this vision, WOW designed the master plan for the south parcels based on the idea of “living in a park.” A large naturalistic park, featuring a series of naturally-filtered water bodies, connect four different residential housing types. A network of tree-lined pedestrian ways to connect residents to world-class schools, hospitals and community centres.
This master plan also includes the 2.0 version of Bhartiya’s innovative Nikoo Homes product. To create a meaningful “vertical village” bringing neighbors together in this 34-story high-rise residential development, WOW has created a series of public spaces that cuts across the residential towers both horizontally and vertically. A continuous Sky Park connects all the towers at the roof top and provides a vast canvas for a variety of social programming.
